'CUSE TRIP

Yeah I was there, and it was FUCKING CRAZY!  Now the original plan was for four of us go to but, once again, Joe has disappointed me.  While I understand the reason he bailed 5 days before we were leaving it was still pretty disappointing.  It ended up being Emily, Meredith and myself headed to 'Cuse for a very memorable Hawkeye game.  Keep in mind JOE, Meredith goes to ISU but was a Hawk fan enough to ride (sleep) in the car for 13 hours each way.  Other than the countless number of round-a-bouts and the fact that they don't sell beer at some of their gas stations Syracuse is a pretty sick city.

We left Eldridge on Friday around 8:15 AM.  Including getting lost north of Syracuse for a half hour it took us a solid 13 hours to arrive in the land of the round-a-bout.  Bettendorf put one of these moronic traffic devices in a couple years ago where there used to be a perfectly good pair of stop signs.  I had thought it was stupid to have one in the Quad Cities, fucking Syracuse has them connected to one another.  After a little pizza and a couple beers it was pass out time, driving all day makes a guy pretty tired.

Saturday we got up and headed over to what turned out to be HAWKEYE Denny's across the parking lot.  3/4 of the place was Hawk fans, get fucking sicker!  After breakfast it was time to pound a few beers and head to the Hawkeye Huddle downtown...

The Hawkeye Huddle was at a bar called SOHO East.  Turns out that there's actually another bar called Daisy Dukes connected to that one...both bars fucking PACKED with Hawks.  After they gave away some free shit some people started to clear out, and some people started riding the mechanical bull.

About an hour before the game started the bar started to clear out quite a bit so we headed to the train station to head to the game.  If you are a true Hawkeye you watched the game and know what happened, here are a few pics from the stadium.

About an hour or two after the game my heart rate came back down to it's normal pace so I could drink another beer or two with my dinner.  Although that stadium had just over 37,000 fans in attendance it was probably one the loudest games I've ever been to.  I've missed one game at Kinnick in the past 5 years and I don't know if I've ever heard the constant noise that the fans of Syracuse were throwing at the Hawks when we were trying to get a first down.

Did some thinking on the way there and found out that Niagara Falls isn't very far out of our way.  We got away from the damn round-a-bouts at around 7:15 AM on Sunday morning and headed to the Falls.  Pretty fucking cool and definitely worth the extra hour drive out of our way to check out.  On our way back to the interstate we went straight south through Buffalo right along Lake Erie, also pretty cool.

Apparently my smart ass comments and stellar driving on the way back wasn't enough entertainment for all my passengers...
